Since we recorded the song live in Berlin, we approached the arrangement with a focus on capturing the energy and spontaneity of a live performance. Our goal was to recreate the magic of the original song while infusing it with the excitement and unpredictability of a live show.
Gianni: Demetrio's arrangement and production expertise were instrumental in shaping the final product. His attention to detail and passion for Cuban music ensured that every aspect of the song was meticulously crafted to honor the original.
Barbarito Torres: I firmly believe that there's something special about recording live. It allows you to connect with the audience and the music on a deeper level. I feel like that connection really comes through on this recording of 'Chan Chan'.
What was it like working with the Buena Vista All Stars, and how did you ensure the authenticity of the Cuban sound?
Gianni: It was a privilege to work with such talented musicians. We made sure to involve them in every step of the process, from arrangement to production. Their input and expertise were invaluable in maintaining the authenticity of the Cuban sound.
